Summary of Proposed Changes This project has benefitted from several grants, including one from the EFA-FTI Catalytic Fund, the precursor to the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). Due to the latest extension in the closing date of the overall EFA-FTI Catalytic Fund, the Senegalese government has requested a similar extension for the related trust fund (TF015285) under this project, moving the closing date from February 29, 2016 to May 31, 2017. Please note that a first extension of the closing date for TF015285 from October 30, 2015 to February 29, 2016 had already been processed, as the GPE donors had not yet given their approval for the extension of the overall EFA-FTI Grant. Nothing else will change. The project closing date of January 31, 2018 will remain unchanged. There is no pending audit report. . B. Project Status The project implementation status is satisfactory, and project objectives continue to be achievable. . C. Proposed Changes . Financing Change in Loan Closing Date(s): Explanation With the phasing out of the EFA-FTI Grant mechanism, the government is required to use the remaining funds under TF015285 (slightly more than $16.25 million) before accessing the GPE grant funds. The extension of the closing date to May 31, 2017 would bring it closer to the overall project closing date (January 31, 2018) and help the government use the remaining funds to finalize the construction of the four Teacher Training Centers (CRFPE), strengthen the accountability mechanisms put in place to support improvements in the quality of primary education, and support the implementation of the planned performance-based contracts, including those for Koranic schools. 5 Original Closing Current Closing Proposed Closing Previous Closing Ln/Cr/TF Status Date Date Date Date(s) IDA-52750 Effective 31-Jan-2018 31-Jan-2018 31-Jan-2018 TF-15232 Effective 31-May-2017 31-May-2017 31-May-2017 TF-15285 Effective 30-Oct-2015 29-Feb-2016 May 31, 2017 29-Feb-2016 TF-15311 Effective 23-Aug-2017 23-Aug-2017 23-Aug-2017 6
