Overall Ratings Name Previous Rating Current Rating Progress towards achievement of PDO -- Satisfactory Overall Implementation Progress (IP) -- Moderately Satisfactory Implementation Status and Key Decisions The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to provide safe, resilient, and cost-effective bridges on Nepal’s Strategic Roads Network. To achieve this objective, year one of the operation focuses on the completion of (a) backlog bridges works (around 1,700 m) and (b) activities under the IPF component: addressing Department of Roads' (DOR) capacity gaps, preparation of new designs/standards, Occupational and Community Health and Safety (OCHS) guidelines, feasibility studies. As the project was just launched and became effective in December 2019, the mission assessed that the PDO is on track to be achieved. DOR initiated several project activities in a timely manner and good progress has been made in the construction of backlog bridges to be completed during the first year of implementation. Lastly, relevant consulting services are expected to be procured in time under the Investment Project Financing (IPF) component as required.
