To-date, the number of direct project beneficiaries has reached 1.3 million, including 50% females, representing most of the urban population in the project area; 639,000 residents are benefiting from increased drainage capacity, improved coverage of drainage services and reduced flood risks; the drainage capacity to accommodate urban floods has improved with a recurrence interval of 10 years compared to a baseline of 3 years; and the total area provided with drainage services (or improved drainage) is 124.8 km2. Consequently, residents enjoy better environmental amenities and improved water quality. Completion of remaining project activities will scale up the project outcomes.
