The agreement for the additional financing was signed on October 31, 2013 anddeclared effective on November 12, 2013. The additional resources will be primarily used to scale-up and augment benefits to already participating beneficiaries and to expand project activities to four additional counties where monitoring point to deteriorating food security. A Page 1 of 4 The World Bank Report No: ISR12637 net increase of 14,500 in project beneficiaries is expected as a result of this third additional financing. All activities under the second additional financing, with the exception of cash- for-work activities in one of the counties (Pochalla) that has been affected by conflict have been finalized. All project funds hitherto the recent additional financing have been fully disbursed. The project has thus far benefited 280900 food insecure people most of them (210, 000) benefiting from agricultural technology adoption that was supported by the project while the rest (33348 persons) have benefited from the cash-for-work activities. Contracting of NGOs to undertake work under the new additional financing is ongoing and will be Public Disclosure Copy completed in time for the next cropping cycle.
