Project has advanced in accordance to its planed implementation and has provided positive results. Main activities: In terms of expansion and rehabilitation of school infrastructure, 22 schools were built or rehabilitated. Regarding the strengthening learning systems, in- service training has been provided to 1,841 Full Time School (FTS) teachers and 4,169 APRENDER school's teachers. On monitoring and evaluation, the impact evaluation is on track.The aim of the evaluation is twofold: (i) to measure the impact of the program on learning outcomes, by comparing outcomes between FTS (treatment group) and non-program schools (control group) in 2013 and 2016; and (ii) to measure the impact of the program on survival, completion and transition rates by the end of the Project for a cohort of students participating in treated and control schools. A preliminary report was prepared by the Government. The report includes the design of the evaluation, the validity of the method comparing observable characteristics between the program group and the comparison groups of schools at baseline, and preliminary mid-term results of the evaluation using 2013 data. A final report is expected by the end of December 2015.
