The Recipient, through the Economic Relations Division of the Recipient's Ministry of Finance, has requested certain changes in the Project activities and an extension of the closing date in a letter dated May 18, 2020. Accordingly, the Association proposes to amend the Financing Agreement as follows: I. Part 5 in the description of the Project set forth in Schedule 1 to the Financing Agreement shall be replaced by the following: "5. Providing Safe and Equitable Learning Opportunities to Children and Adolescents of DRP in Cox's Bazar District 5.1 Supporting the delivery of informal education to DRP children and adolescents, through, inter alia: (a) the provision of textbooks and materials designed in accordance with the Recipient's learning competency framework for DRP children; (b) the improvement of safety, security, and menstrual hygiene management in learning centers in DRP camps, and the recruitment of female teachers for learning centers and DRP camps; (c) the establishment of new and makeshift learning centers and supporting existing learning centers for informal learning activities in DRP camps; (d) the recruitment of teachers and learning instructors for learning centers in DRP camps; (e) the provision of special training to the recruited teachers and learning instructors; and (f) ensuring safety and hygiene measures in the LCs to prevent transmission of COVID- 19 and other such diseases. 5.2 Strengthening the capacity of MOPME and relevant agencies, as well as the education officers and other relevant agencies of the Cox's Bazar District and Upazilas within the Cox's Bazar District to manage, monitor and coordinate the education service delivery to DRP children and adolescents, ensure proper hygiene and safety measures to prevent transmission of COVID-19 and carrying out longitudinal study in DRP education. 5.3 Supporting: (a) the renovation and equipping of selected existing local government primary schools to serve as training centers for teachers and learning instructors of DRP children and adolescents with special focus on maintaining safe environment and hygiene to prevent transmission of COVID-19 at local government primary schools, including inter alia supply of hygiene materials and awareness raising activities among the users of the schools' buildings (but excluding routine mAintenance). 5.4 Supporting psycho-social activities for DRP children and adolescents within the learning centers, and awareness raising activities among the DRPs regarding safety, security, hygiene and COVID-19 preparedness." 2. Section 111.B,2 of Schedule 2 to the Financing Agreement shall be replaced by the following: "The Closing Date is June 30, 2021." 3. The following definition shall be added to the list of definitions in the Appendix to the Financing Agreement: "COVID-19" means the coronavirus disease caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus (SARS- CoV-2). Except as specifically amended by this Amendment Letter, all other provisions of the Financing Agreement shall remain unchanged and in full force and effect. The Association will disclose this Amendment Letter and related information in accordance with the World Bank's Policy on Access to Information. By entering into this Amendment Letter, the Recipient consents to disclosure of this Amendment Letter and related information. Please confirm your acceptance to the foregoing by signing and dating the two originals, retaining one original for your records and returning the other original to the Association, Upon receipt by the Association of the original Amendment Letter countersigned by you, in a manner satisfactory to the Association, this Amendment Letter will become effective as of the date on which the Association confirms the acceptance of the aforementioned documents.
