The Project Global Objective is to contribute to more effective protection of trans-boundary watersheds in a manner that preserves the integrity of ecosystems in Bhutan. Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project? Yes No Component(s) Component Name Component Cost Pilot Projects to demonstrate effective application of land degradation prevention approaches 1.37 Mainstreaming of practices for protection against land degradation 4.41 Policy support and guidance for mainstreaming land degradation prevention practices 1.05 National level support for coordination and implementation of land degradation prevention practices 0.80 Overall Ratings Public Disclosure Copy Previous Rating Current Rating Progress towards achievement of GEO Satisfactory Satisfactory Overall Implementation Progress (IP) Satisfactory Satisfactory Overall Risk Rating Moderate Moderate Implementation Status Overview Implementation progress is satisfactory and it is anticipated that the development objectives would be achieved by the closing date. Due to its inclusive approach, the project directly targets 4,552 beneficiaries in 138 chiogs in the nine project-funded geogs. Documentation of SLM best practices has been completed and provides a valuable tool in the understanding, replication and promotion of SLM practices in Bhutan. The targets for converting degraded and vulnerable forest, grazing and agricultural lands, and shifting cultivation lands to more sustainable forms of land use have been met or exceeded.
