The project development objective is to improve productivity and sustainability of pasture/livestock livelihood systems in selected communities. This
would be evidenced by: (i) increased livestock productivity as measured by milk productivity and increase in daily animal weight gain; (ii) increased
efficiency of communal pasture management, as measured by increased communal budgetary revenues from lease of pastures; (iii) increased farm
sales from livestock; and (iv) increased Pasture Management Effectiveness.

Implementation Status and Key Decisions
In about four months before Project closing, the Project has made good progress in implementation of all three components. As a result of efficient
Project implementation and savings made, in addition to 55 communities of 6 Marzes (regions) of the country envisaged by the Project, additional 26
communities were included. According to the information received from the Progress Report prepared and submitted by APIU, most of the end-of
project target indicators have been met or exceeded. As of today, the project is expected to achieve its targets for milk productivity, growth in the cattle
and ship herd sizes, sales of livestock products and the efficiency of communal pasture management as measured by increased communal budgetary
revenues from lease of pastures. A number of measures necessary for consolidation of the project’s records is underway in preparation for project
impact evaluation.
