Under thecomponent on strengthening of environmental institutions, the consultancies for the business strategy development for theEnvironment Compliance Assistance Centres in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal have been Page 1 of 4 The World Bank Report No: ISR7752 commissioned; also, various sector-specifictechnical studies are in progress. Two technical capacity building activities have been successfully completed and laboratorystrengthening is well underway. Under the component on Priority Remediation and Environmental Improvements, all major consultancieshave been assigned and work on technical studies and detailed assessment and remedial design of the four pilot sites are in variousstages of completion. Both states have undertaken consultations with stakeholders, including public and private sector,communities and NGOs on project specific activities.
