Rehabilitation of Lusaka - Kafue Road had been completed and Mufuchani Bridge construction was advancing well, with the main structural elements (foundations, piers, and deck) in place. All the available funds under the US$ 75 million credit had either been disbursed or committed. The period between now and the credit closing date (April 30, 2016) is considered sufficient to complete the most of the outstanding activities. The two notable subcomponents under Capacity Building that continue to experience delays are the Accident Information System under RTSA, and review of the Transport sector policy under the Ministry of Transport. This has been corrected. Based on RDA's 2013 road condition survey, out of the 29,088 km of Trunk, Main, District, Urban and Primary Feeder roads assessed, 18,939 km or 65% of the surveyed length, were in Good and Fair condition. This proportion is adopted as a reasonable indicators of the condition of the entire road network of 67,631 km. The indicator will be updated after RDA’s 2014 condition survey, but it is unlikely to reach the 80% target. It is to be noted that the project did not directly support the improvement of the road network condition. The original five districts were Chibombo, Mpongwe, Zambezi, Kalabo and Sinazongwe. The last two are funded by GRZ. The reduction in actual number reflects the work in the three districts of Chibombo, Mpongwe, and Zambezi. The final numbers will be provided after receipt of the completion report. RDA had undertaken to fund the construction of the other weighbridge and therefore the target of 100,000 trucks was maintained. Work on Chongwe weighbridge is still ongoing with the target completion date of January 31, 2016. RDA funded weighbridge is unlikely to be completed by project closing date. After completion of Chongwe weighbridge, it expected that half of the initial axle load checks i.e. 50,000 trucks will be fully met. 10/22/2015 Page 7 of 9 Public Disclosure Copy Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report ROAD REHABILITATION AND MAINTENANCE PROJECT PHASE II (P106596) PHINDIRITBL Annual road fatalities per 10,000 registered vehicles (Number, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 48.00 50.00 31.00 36.00 Date 27-Oct-2009 13-Mar-2015 13-Mar-2015 30-Apr-2016 Comments The target has been exceeded.
