Outside Gujarat, SEWA is working with partners in Assam (one center), Meghalaya (2 centers), and with its own members in Rajasthan. The remaining center will be in Bihar and an interaction with Jeevika will be Public Disclosure Copy organized. Business Plans for the Centers identify different activities, for example support on linking members to government schemes; fee-based courses on topics such as supply chain management; an embroidery museum in Radhanpur; health/telemedicine; organic tea farming in Assam; counseling on land sales as well as ways to enhance agricultural productivity; tools and equipment libraries; demonstration farms. Training materials are in some cases being adapted for e-learning. Community radios, which were planned for all BDCs, have proven to be more complicated to set up than anticipated because of the length and complexity of the license approval process. Given the time it takes to get licenses, it may not be possible to set up and operate all the planned community radios within the lifespan of the project. SEWA is assessing how many community radio stations can realistically be set up under the project.
