The project includes 5 small-scale self-standing CDM projects. Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project Objective? As of last Bank site visit in March 2015, a total of 1,251 ha has been planted, including 1,112 ha by the NFA ( some areas had to be re-planted due to fire damages and low survival rates) and 139 ha by the five CFM groups. (The originally envisaged end project reforestation area was 2,137 hectares.) The carbon verification measurements carried out by TUV SUD in 2013 confirmed that the project achieved emission removals in the amount of 24,903 tons of C02. Accordingly, the BioCarbon Fund in December 2013 transferred the first payment (US$93,347.45) towards verified emissions 6/16/2015 Page 1 of 3 Public Disclosure Copy Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report UG-Nile Basin Reforestation (FY06) (P097742) reductions generated from the project. A part of this carbon revenue has been shared with the CFM groups that are doing the reforestation within the Project area. Further revenues will be available to the community from the sale of timber products from the areas they manage.
