The steady rate of implementation previously observed is now slowing down, mainly due to continued delays in RAP implementation for the Ayamfuri-Asawinso road. The Bank has issued a letter to government to resolve this issue by end of January 2017. The same letter notifies the Government of the violation of the Bank safeguards policy and the possible suspension of disbursements to the project as a result of non-compliance. It is noted that a change of government is in place after the national elections were held on December 7, 2017, and currently government is in a transition period leading to handing over on January 7, 2017. This is likely to impact the timely resolution of the safeguards non-compliance on the project.
