National Steering Committee: The NSC was established and its first meeting was held in May. Another meeting is planned for October 2013. 2. Socioeconomic survey: The socio-economic survey for OKNP and KHFR is finalized and submitted to the Bank. 3. Conservation site management committees: it was established in OKNP and the first meeting was held in June 2013. 4. Alternative livelihood support: pineapple and cashew nut have been supplied to pilot farmers. Study tour between the farmers and processing plant was conducted. 5. Policy, legal and institutional framework for forestry and for conservation: The procurement unit has engaged the second best consulting firm for the review of the Forestry Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Report No: ISR12104 Act and Wildlife Conservation Act with the inclusion of wetland issues. The first firm has backed out because he is currently busy with other task and will have time available only next year. 6. Multi-year output based planning and budgeting at FD level: PMT has finalized the terms of reference for the Multi-year planning and budgeting and will be soon be forwarded for procurement of consultant Public Disclosure Copy 7. Civil Works: Consulting services for design and supervision of civil works for Kangari Hills and Outamba-Kilimi National Park. A local architectural firm has been identified for the design and supervision of civil works at Kangari Hills and OKNP. The architect has already made his first site visit to the two sites and design work is in progress. 8. Assessment of the impact of wildfires on biodiversity and carbon emissions for Outamba-Kilimi National Park and Loma Mountains National Park: EOI has been advertised in national newspapers. Shortlist of prospecting candidates will follow. 9. Training Needs Assessment: EOI has been advertised in national newspapers. Shortlist of prospecting candidates will follow. 10. Coordination with Bumbuna project: Bumbuna project has been closed. An ICR mission was conducted in September. Pending activities, challenges and way forward were discussed.
