This expanded hydro-met network and increased real-time data collection, in turn, improves the information upon which decisions are made in several technical entities. more than 93% of the total Grant has been disbursed (approximately US$6.32 million). The summary of the recent implementation status per component is as follows: Component 1 - Upgrading hydro-meteorological data collection, processing and forecasting systems Component 1 continued to make significant progress toward upgrading and/or providing new equipment, systems and training for data collection and processing. The Doppler Weather Radar has become operational, the fencing of the station has been completed and the solarization is 12/21/2021 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Improving Climate Data and Information Management (P129633) underway and is planned to be completed before the end of December 2021. The equipment for the Meteorological Service of Jamaica (MSJ) including the installation of 18 automatic weather stations (AWSs) and the two sea level tide gauges is expected to commence shortly. Additionally, and even though the delivery of equipment for the MSJ AWS Real Time Data Platform was delayed, the work is on track and the installation is expected to commence in December 2021. Component 2 - Climate Resilient Planning and Hydro-meteorological Information Services Component 2 continued to make significant progress in improving Jamaica’s climate resilience through a number of activities that have been completed. Recent progress includes the advancements in the implementation of the several Health Vulnerability Assessment Study recommendations, which were approved as part of the Project restructuring. In particular, technical specifications for the procurement and installation of the generators for a number of health facilities have been completed and the procurement process is expected to commence shortly. The process of installation of water tanks will be done between January 2022 and April 2022. The PIU confirmed that this work will be accelerated to the extent possible to ensure that all equipment is installed and operational before the end of the project. The development of early warning messaging is also underway and planned to be completed by March 2022. Additionally, the community risk profiles have been prepared and their validation is underway. The State of Jamaica’s Climate (SOJC) Report has also been finalized and is now in the publishing process. Component 3 - Climate Change Education, Awareness and Behavior Change Under Component 3, the most notable achievement is related to the advancement of the Final Report of the Knowledge, Attitudes and Practice Survey. Even though this activity faced some particular challenges related to COVID-19 restrictions, it is expected to be finalized by December 2021.
