The project consists of the final extension of the Prai Thermal Power Station (3 x 120 MW), construction of a 132 kilovolt (kV) trans- mission line from Majadee switching station to Kota Tinggi, and exten- • sion of the 11 kV distribution system to two rural areas. These facilities are to be cormnissioned between 1978 and 1980. The project also provides for consulting services for a rural elec- trification study and other assistance. NEB's total generating capacity of 860 MW consists of about 265 MW of hydroelectric plant, 540 MW of steam plant, and 55 MW of diesel plant. NEB's interconnected system covers most of the western side of Peninsular Malaysia. Links to Kuantan, Kata Bahru and Kuala Trengganu on the east coast will be completed between 1975 and 1980, when the entire peninsula will be interconnected.
