                                  PRIVATE PLACEMENT WITH DEUTSCHE BANK AG

                          The World Bank announced today that it has signed an
                   agreement with the Deutsche Bank AG for the private placement
                   of Deutsche Mark Notes fn the Prfncfpal amount of DM 150 mfllfon.

                   The Notes will carry interest at the rate of 8% payable annually
                   on August 1. The Notes wf 11 be repaid at par on August 1, 1982.
                   The proceeds of thfs placement will be used in the general opera-
                   tions of the Wor.ld Bank •
