The PDO is on track to be achieved without major shortcomings despite extending the Project for additional 33 months compared to the original timeline. The Project will arrive at 2250 km of CREMA rehabilitated roads. It will have improved more than 1600 spots along the rural roads in the State, ensuring that 5500 km covering 100 percent of the rural population in the Western part of the Tocantins will access jobs, markets, and education/health facilities the whole year. 12/22/2021 Page 1 of 8 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Tocantins Integrated Sustainable Regional Development (P121495) The Project has supported rural development focusing on community tourism, farmers, children, teachers, and the State Government, emphasizing women's and indigenous populations' needs. Most activities will close on time and a few activities will remain pending after closing with an upcoming Action Plan for monitoring those. The Project has impacted the people of Tocantins with major success and it is moving forward with some new technologies to enhance the Project's sustainability by implementing solar panels and PV plants for reducing CO2 emissions and curbing deforestation/wildfires with the support of drones' technology. The PIU is preparing the Completion Report and has reinforced its work capacity to finish the implementation of all the pending activities by the end of the Project on December 31, 2021, or if necessary with Government's own funding, after the closing date. The indicator was indeed Comments: achieved as a result of the pandemic but the real number is disputed. This is a nationwide problem that other States are suffering. Overall Comments IR Several intermediate indicators won't be achieved as a result of the pandemic - teacher training that was not finalized as a result of the pandemic - and the reduction of early leavers in School which in number was overachieved but in reality, we don't know the real numbers, as all kids were enrolled virtually but the State doesn't know how many actually followed the lessons from home. Another problematic indicator is not achieved as a result of lack of political will - agreement on maintenance with Municipalities, and this will be necessary to rethink other potential ideas for the future; The last indicator that won't be achieved is as a result of the delay - slaughterhouses, even though the Company - Frigotins - is willing to open them as soon as possible - during 2022. The rest of the indicators are substantially achieved, especially the first intermediate indicator in each subcomponent which contribute to PDO 2 composite, as per the M&E design.
