Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project Objective? The Client is working diligently to close the operation successfully by December 31st, 2022. The status of activities is summarized below: Component 1 – Productive Inclusion and Access to Markets. Currently, the Project is supporting 1,252 sub-projects, which are all being successfully completed (well above the originally proposed 400 sub-projects). These sub-projects are benefiting 41,797 people out of 34,250 originally estimated (36% above target). The food security subcomponent has been successfully implemented and it has been expanded to be cover more beneficiaries given the rise of food insecurity across the State of Bahia. Component 2 – Water and Sanitation. The Project has identified 214 Water Supply (WS) systems and made investments in 178 WS systems (right around target). Of all the financed WS systems, 110 WS systems have been concluded, 46 WS systems are under construction, 22 WS systems are new investments about to get execution started. The WS investments are benefiting 81,424 people (on target to achieve 95,000 3/23/2022 Page 1 of 11 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report BRAZIL BAHIA SUSTAINABLE RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT (P147157) beneficiaries). There are 2,543 new household sanitation modules successfully completed benefiting 8,672 people (10% above the original target indicator). Component 3 - Institutional Development, Technical Assistance and Project Management. Technical assistance (TA) plays a key role in overcoming farmer information constraints and encouraging the adoption of improved agricultural technologies. Despite the COVID restrictions, the PIU continued to use virtual tools to deliver TA and capacity building activities. To assess the TA delivery and capacity building, perceptions about the performance of the services delivered were asked to farmers beneficiaries of the interventions via survey, and the survey revealed that farmers are satisfied and/or very satisfied with the services delivered (95.72% well above the 80% satisfaction target).
