The PIU is also now operating at full speed overseeing the implementation of field activities in a synchronized manner across the three main components of this project. As a result, the project has now attained as of March 15 2022 a 36% disbursement rate. Given current progress, the project is on course to achieving its development outcome by the project close in March 2024. Key constraints to disbursements remain focused on procurement and financial management challenges. Following the October 2021 mission which initiated discussions for the MTR, the Government of Burundi has now appointed a technical committee composed of members from the Ministry of Finance and MINEAGRIE, to elaborate the key restructuring recommendations and proposed budget 3/23/2022 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Burundi Landscape Restoration and Resilience Project (P160613) reallocations from the client side, based on the recommendations of the MTR report finalized by an independent consultant. Project restructuring is expected to be completed by Q4. The GEF AF project financing has entered effectiveness during the reporting period (September 9, 2021). The team is focused on supporting the client in finalizing all key contracts, including feasibility studies to be executed by SHER, in the target 9 hills of the project in Matongo, so that activities can begin on the ground before the rainy season of May 2022. A site visit to the key project sites during the reporting period evidenced start of replanting, land certification and livelihood support activities such as cash transfers.
