Chad and the Economic Community for Central African States (ECCAS) became effective in March 2020, Angola on June 23, 2020, CAR on August 26, 2020, and ROC, DRC became effective on September 1, 2020. These countries and ECCAS have been implementing the project whose activities were 12/6/2022 Page 1 of 24 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Regional Disease Surveillance Systems Enhancement Project (REDISSE) Phase IV (P167817) prioritized to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020-2021 period. In 2022, the project has resumed the implementation of its originally planned activities and some highlights are presented as follows:  Country teams have been liaising frequently with development partners (WHO, Africa CDC, USAID, UNICEF, other UN agencies) in the health emergency preparedness and response space and being at the front of the response to current public health threats such as Ebola, Monkey Pox, Meningitis.  Countries and regional technical and steering committees have been established and are operational.  Surveillance training at different levels in both human and animal health on Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) has been carried out.  Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) and environmental health and community health have been carried out. In terms of progress towards project implementation achievements include the consolidation of most country project team, update of the results framework with 2021’s indicators, and the improvement of the communication and visibility of the Project. However, there are still some challenges with the validation of the basic texts for the creation and operationalization of the Central African Regional Animal Health Center (CRSA-AC), and alignment of the regional and country workplans for a better identification/coordination of technical assistance activities.
