Progress on infrastructure continues steadily. Six buildings (infrastructure assets) are complete – five of which are already in use and one (Pari Island) is in furnishing and equipment installation process, and expected to be fully operational by June 17, 2022. Implementation is complete on Component 3 activities financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), focused on improving management effectiveness of priority marine protected areas (MPAs). Progress includes construction of small eco-tourism infrastructure, registration, and operational support of POKMASWAS (community surveillance groups), research and conservation activities for endangered species, and coastal management capacity-building activities. COVID-19 related restrictions have had an impact on project progress over the last 25 months, including on Component 3 activities, coastal ecosystems monitoring activities, and assessment center and data node establishment. Despite these constraints, the project is on track to achieving its objectives, with three of four Project Development Objective (PDO)-level indicators successfully achieved, and the fourth on track for completion by the Closing Date. Assessment of scoring under both systems in 2019 indicates that 75% under EKKP3K is equal to around 45% under EVIKA. Based on the EVIKA scoring of 2020/2021 all four MPAs scored between 54.46% - 83.78% meaning that all four MPAs have Comments: achieved their target objectives.Self-assessed EVIKA rating for 2022 so far is between 66.15-89.76% for all four MPAs. The Bank team agreed to use the self assessed EVIKA rating as evidence of achievement of this indicator because the official 2022 EVIKA scorecard will not be published until December 2022.
