The project development objective (PDO) is to improve reliability of electricity supply, expand access to electricity, and scale up renewable energy generation. The project implementation has been delayed by the COVID 19 pandemic. With the reopening of FSM borders, the pace of implementation improved. Procurement for (i) the supply and installation of diesel generators for the Pohnpei Utility Corporation, and (2) the supply and installation of battery storage for the Kosrae Utilities Authority progressed to negotiation stage. Requests for bids were advertised to select contractors for the design, supply, and construction of renewable mini-grids in the islands of Satowan and Udot in Chuuk State. A 830 kW diesel generator was delivered to Yap State Public Service Corporation. 12/22/2022 Page 1 of 6 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report SUSTAINABLE ENERGY DEVELOPMENT AND ACCESS PROJECT (P165183) Risks Systematic Operations Risk-rating Tool Risk Category Rating at Approval Previous Rating Current Rating Political and Governance Substantial Moderate Moderate Macroeconomic Moderate Moderate Moderate Sector Strategies and Policies Substantial Substantial Substantial Technical Design of Project or Program Substantial Substantial Substantial Institutional Capacity for Implementation and High Substantial Substantial Sustainability Fiduciary Substantial Substantial Substantial Environment and Social Moderate Moderate Moderate Stakeholders Moderate Moderate Moderate Other -- Substantial Substantial Overall Substantial Substantial Substantial Results PDO Indicators by Objectives / Outcomes Improving Reliability of Electricity Supply in Pohnpei State IN01235275 ►PUC System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) (Minutes, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 4,000.00 4,000.00 3,500.00 1,000.00 Date 19-Nov-2018 19-May-2022 30-Nov-2022 30-Nov-2023 The project provided PUC with a truck that is being used to prune trees whose branches used to fall on distribution lines causing power outages.
