First, the PforR will strengthen integrated institutional frameworks for BE development through strategic planning and institutional development, piloting regional coordination approaches and establishing the scientific basis. Second, the Program will improve the integrated management of natural resources and strengthen selected sectors through supporting economic development, strengthening capacity for key marine and coastal sectors and sustainably managing coastal assets. The Program interventions seek to catalyze transformational changes and to strengthen key blue sectors to recover the economy from the COVID-19 pandemic while improving resilience to climate change. The Program was approved by the World Bank Board of Executive Directors on May 23, 2022 and became effective on July 29, 2022. The disbursement of the advance has been processed, representing 24% of the loan amount. During this period, the Program has deployed the key personnel to start operating the Program Implementation Unit hosted by Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). The preparation of the Operational Manual has started. The preparation of key environmental and social requirements for the Program have started to be prepared in line with the Program Action Plan. The team will conduct the first supervision mission in October 2022.
