This project contributes to improving resilience as it not only focuses on a new building but also is working to improve the quality and expand the scope of hospital services for the population of Sint Maarten. Overall, project implementation progress continues at a satisfactory pace. Significant progress on the new hospital construction continues with six out of a total of seven concrete pours for the main building foundation completed. The essential upgrades to the existing facility have had a significant impact on SMMC’s progress towards transitioning to the new building. As a result, the scope of current hospital services has been expanded and overseas referrals have been reduced over the past five years.
