The pilot and training for the teacher’s appraisal instrument and the development of standards for mathematics instruction was completed. The pilot for technology-assisted learning through tablets was also completed and a comprehensive review of the program was undertaken to identify lessons to incorporate going forward. Preparations for the expansion of the pilot of adaptive learning on tablets and the new pilot of smart classrooms have begun, but has been delayed. 9/29/2022 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Guyana Secondary Education Improvement (P147924) Component 2:Construction of the two schools began on October 15, 2018, of which one school was completed on July 19, 2021, and the other remains ongoing. Preparations for the design of a third secondary school have begun. Finally, the education management information system has been developed and the pilot of 20 schools is completed. Although there have been important advances, delays persist in both teacher training and construction components and have been exacerbated in the aftermath of the health pandemic and in light of new emerging global challenges. With less than one year to the Project closing data (June 30, 2023), it is important to increase the implementation pace of the remaining activities on order to achieve Project objectives in the remaining time frame.
