Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project Objective? The Financing Agreement between IDA and the Republic of Mali which was signed on December 12, 2022 amounts to EUR 102.5 million as IDA Credit and EUR 153.7 million under the IDA Credit Scale Up Window. For Component 1, the Government's request for an emergency intervention on solid waste evacuation is being addressed through an Action Plan agreed upon with the PCU and the Government in August 2023. The Plan foresees retrofitting the existing landfill cell in Noumoubougou, converting the "points noirs" (de facto landfills in town) into transfer stations, carrying out the transfer of the accumulated waste and providing the municipality with equipment and capacity building to support the transfer. 11/13/2023 Page 1 of 10 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Bamako Urban Resilience Project (P171658) Some progress was made under component 2. Under component 2.1, the situation on the stalled study to produce the front end designs of the sludge treatment plants is being solved, with the help of the airport brigade. Under sub-component 2.2, ToRs for the recruitment of a consultant to identify and prioritize the schools, health centers and private homes to be provided with latrines is being finalized. For sub-component 2.4 on water supply led by SOMAPEP, the process to hire consultants for (i) the designs and studies of the water tanks and (ii) the EIA and the RAP, made significant progress. Likewise, the procurement of 17,500 connection kits and meters has also made progress. Under component 3, for the investments in collectors and vulnerable neighborhoods (Banconi, Niamakoro, Daoudabougou), the development of priority investment plans in consultation with local authorities and communities is progressing well. However, as soon as they are finalized, detailed studies for the collector system and investment in the neighborhoods for Niamakoro and Daoudabougou must be launched, followed rapidly by Banconi. Project Management Assistance will be launched to support the implementation of component 4 on institutional strengthening for urban and territorial planning (operationalization of Greater Bamako, digital resilience platform, Bamako Urban Master Plan, municipal finance).
