Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project Objective? An alternative solution is also explored and the report will be submitted to the steering committee in July 2022 and shared with world bank teams as an entry point of the restructuration. The detailed situation by components is presented below. Component A: - Strengthening of institutional arrangements and management capacity of the mining sector. The project financing, among other things, the acquisition of equipment for environmental surveillance and monitoring in the mining areas of Kayes and Sikasso which were handed over to the beneficiary institutions (DNGM, DNACPN, DRGM Kayes, and DRGM Sikasso), including the organization of training sessions on their use with the participation of 11 technical service agents (at national and regional level). The project also launched the AMI for: (i) the audit of the cadastre with a view to its modernization with a deadline of May 9, 2022; (ii) the acquisition of geophysical and topographical equipment, for which the deadline for 7/6/2022 Page 1 of 8 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Mali Governance of Mining Sector (P164242) calls for tenders was May 18, 2022; as well as additional materials for the installation of laboratory equipment for the Mineral Resources Development Program (PDRM). To date, the project has trained 113 staff from the technical departments/directorates responsible for managing the mining and environment sector (DNGM, DNACPN, DRGM, etc.). Component B: - Strengthening revenue transparency and governance. The status of implementation of the two sub-components is as follows: - Improve the transparency of extractive revenues. The mission appreciates the results achieved in the implementation of this activity and urges the PIU to speed up the pace. Thus, as part of strengthening revenue transparency and governance, the project supported, among other things: (i) the dissemination of the 2017 and 2018 EITI reports with the organization of 19 workshops in Bamako and in the regions of Mali, the preparation of the 2019 EITI report completed in March 2022 and which will be published shortly; (ii) finalization of the recruitment procedure for the consultant responsible for preparing the 2020 and 2021 EITI reports; and (iii) the forthcoming start of activities related to community training on EITI standards. However, we note the production of sketches in local languages, including the acquisition and installation of videoconferencing equipment as part of the strengthening of social responsibility and the direct participation of citizens in the management of extractive revenues. Component C: - Economic empowerment of women and youth in the mining sector. The project had commissioned the development of a mapping study of women service providers working at the local level in the mining localities of Kayes, Koulikoro and Sikasso and grouped together, among others in associations, within AFEMINE and FEMIMA. The objective of this study was to list the number of women farmers and service providers and to diagnose needs in order to provide them with the necessary support. The final report with an action plan is available. - The project financed the organization of exchange workshops with women which took place from November 29 to 30, 2021 with the participation of 20 women from associations working in the mining sector (Kayes and Sikasso regions). The general objective of the workshop was to strengthen the capacities of women artisans in the mining sector in the implementation of income-generating projects. At the end of the workshop, 4 project proposals were selected to receive financial support from the project.
