The SOP1 was approved on May 20, 2022 and restructured on December 12, 2022, taking into account the revised cofinancing framework. To fill the immediate financing gap in port investment at Boingoma, Additional Financing (US$15M) was approved by the Board on May 31, 2023. The overall project implementation has been on track. Component 1. Port Boingoma. The detailed design and bidding documents were prepared. The potential quarry site to borrow materials for the port works was identified. The specific procurement notice was published on November 15, 2022 and the initial selection evaluation was completed by March 16, 2023. Component 2. Implementation support/Technical assistance. All necessary safeguard instruments to appraise AF, such as sectoral ESIA, RFP, GBV action plan and LMP, have already been approved and disclosed. To advance the rehabilitation works at Port Boingoma, an additional, sectoral ESIA for the identified quarry site, transport corridor and the port, is under preparation. The RAP is also being prepared, which shall be implemented before the actual work starts.
