The project was approved October 27, 2020, signed December 3, 2020, became effective on January 28, 2021, and was officially launched March 26, 2021. No activity is under implementation to date. The project was restructured on June 24, 2022, to amend the results framework. The implementing agency, the Bureau of Customs (BOC), has completed the 2022 Time Release Study (TRS), which will help prioritize areas for improvement in the next couple of years until project closing, June 30, 2025. The project, despite important implementation delays, remains relevant and is supported by the Government of the Philippines (GOP) which considers the modernization of customs and cross-border trade as key priorities for the country. The BOC is supported by a Project Management Unit (PMU) that coordinate the preparation and delivery of activities. The project’s disbursement condition has not yet been lifted due to the remaining requirement for the appointment of Project Supervision and Quality Assurance (PSQA) contractor. However, with only 24 months remaining for project implementation, immediate actions are needed regarding the scope and duration of the project.
