Implementation Status and Key Decisions
The Project continues to make progress and UNICEF-NL, as implementing agency, remains committed. However, the Mid-term Review (MTR)
mission that was conducted from March 22 to 24 concluded that Components 1 and 2 are not fully “on track” to achieve their respective PDO
indicators. Component 3, on the contrary, is expected to be complete by the current closing date, achieving its PDO indicator. In line with these
developments, the Project is expected to be restructured this year to extend the closing date by five months to ensure to provide more time to
achieve the indicators.
Summary of Project's Key Activities
Under Component 1 – “Nurturing children’s and adolescents’ well-being”, the package of comprehensive psychosocial activities to be
implemented at the school, family, and community levels is being prepared with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports
(MECYS) and is expected to be rolled out before the end of the Project.
Under Component 2 – “Strengthening child protection systems”, training of professionals from MECYS, the Court of Guardianship, and the
Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor (VSA) on child safety and rights has been provided.
Under Component 3 – “Strengthening schools and MECYS’ resilience to disasters”, the revision of an Education in Emergency
contingency strategy which includes a communication protocol to schools during emergencies has been completed.
