RESULTS 6.1 PDO Indicators by PDO Outcomes Improve access to safely managed water supply services in selected districts Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) Closing Period Indicator Name Value Month/Year Value Date Value Date Value Month/Year 0.00 Mar/2022 0.00 24-May-2024 0.00 24-May-2024 250.00 Nov/2027 Comments on Safely-managed water supply services are defined in line with the definition of the SDG 6.1 achieving targets along the aspects of “improved water source which is accessible on premises, available when needed (that is, households are able to access sufficient quantities of water when needed) and compliant with relevant national or local standards.” For the project purposes, the PDO People provided with access indicator is defined as provision of “raw water or water after treatment (filtering, to safely managed water desinfection) meeting established quality and safety standards, and intended for drinking, supply services (Number preparation of food, other household needs, including personal hygiene and food processing (Thousand)) through individual piped connections at the household level”. National standards of quality and safety are established by the relevant regulations issued by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection on acceptable level of chemical and microbiological composition, as well as perceivedharacteristics of water (taste, color, smell and temperature) that ensure its safety for the health of population. People provided with 0.00 Mar/2022 0.00 24-May-2024 0.00 24-May-2024 125.00 Nov/2027 access to safely managed water supply services - Female (Number (Thousand)) 100.00 Mar/2022 100.00 24-May-2024 100.00 24-May-2024 30.00 Mar/2022 Time spent by women and girls on water fetching daily Comments on Time spent on fetching is estimated as time (in minutes) spent on walking to the water decreased (Percentage) achieving targets source, queuing to collect water, collecting water and walking back to the household premises. When water is not piped to the home the burden of fetching it falls Jun 28, 2024 Page 3 of 11 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Tajikistan Water Supply and Sanitation Investment Project (P177325) disproportiontely on women and children, especially girls. Therefore, when water is obtained by water-fetching, 'the availability of an acceptable quantity and quality of water for health, livelihoods, ecosystems and production' at the household level is dependent on the ability of household members to negotiate access to off-plot sources (Wutich, 2009; Stevenson et al., 2012; Diouf et al., 2014), carry sufficient quantities of water home (Geere et al., 2010a) and safely store it (Jagals, 2006). 0.00 Mar/2022 0.00 24-May-2024 0.00 24-May-2024 95.00 Nov/2027 Share of the planned water Comments on The indicator requires the SES jointly with the local utilities to develop and agree on the samples for the target water achieving targets sampling plan for each water supply system.
