Field visits in the Eastern Province were not possible due to the heavy rainy season. The Project made progress in terms of services provided to beneficiaries, 21 Farmers Led Irrigation Schemes were established, 24 boreholes were drilled to provide irrigation water for the schemes. The Project has supported the formation of 27 Community Forest Management Groups and were all recognized by the Directorate of Forestry under the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment. 6/28/2023 Page 1 of 7 Public Disclosure Copy The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Zambia Integrated Forest Landscape Project (GEF) (P161490) The mission noted progress in preparing the Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement (ERPA), which is be processed as a standalone project (Eastern Province Jurisdictional Sustainable Landscape Program, P155827). The approval of the ERPA is expected by September 2023. The mission noted the progress in supporting the Lukusuzi resettled community in terms of providing services to them including a school and a health post. Priority should be given to PIU ensure that these facilities are functional prior to the closing date of the Project (February 29, 2024). The Project has made progress under the sub-grant activities. In total, there are 64 active sub-grant projects with 28,800 beneficiaries (56% male, 44% female) in different locations in the Eastern Province. The Project have made progress in terms of utilization of funds available, the PIU was earlier advised to increase the utilization rate of the grants vis-à-vis the IDA allocation. By mid-March the utilization rates were IDA 77%; BioCF 86%; and GEF 82%. The mission noted some discrepancies in the data reported under the Project Results Framework. The PIU will work closely with the Zambia Statistics Agency (Zamstats) to review the process and the methodology used in data collection and analysis. This is critical especially with the approaching closing date of the Project.
