Has the Project Development Objective been changed since Board Approval of the Project Objective? A total of seven decision support system (DSS) prototypes in three countries were developed. For the Department of Livestock Services in Bangladesh, RIMES has developed a prototype system called the National Livestock Advisory System (NLAS). NLAS is already experimentally operational, generated “Special Bulletin for Heat Stress for Livestock,” and disseminated advisory voice messages to 44,148 farmers and extension workers in 13 districts during April 11-16, 2023, in close coordination with the Livestock and Dairy Development Project (P161246). RIMES familiarized a total of 180 government officials in Bangladesh and Pakistan with DSS products during the training called the Climate Applicating Forum (CAF). During the CAP in Pakistan, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has tasked its forecasters/climate scientists to review and refine the seasonal outlook based on advice from RIMES. PMD is planning to issue a refined climate outlook for the monsoon season, within a few days following the CAF. Under Subcomponent 2.4, the initial M&E reports from the innovators indicate that 6/28/2023 Page 1 of 7 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Climate Adaptation and Resilience for South Asia (P171054) approximately 8,000 citizens may have benefitted from the innovative solutions crowdsourced by ADPC to date. The restructuring of Component 2 is underway to streamline the project design, scale up Subcomponent 2.4, and improve cost efficiency.
