Concerted efforts are underway to increase female labor force participation by opening new options and addressing women's constraints to attend skills development programs and participate in the labor force. Implementation progress has also been upgraded to Satisfactory. Overall, the main bottlenecks for accelerating implementation progress have been: (a) the continued supply chain disruptions, (b) the price escalations requiring procurement budgets to be revised against quotations received, and (c) sourcing incountry technical assistance. The courses have been identified based on the findings of the Training Needs Assessments (TNAs). The Skills for a Resilient Work Force program is being showing good progress. As of now, 7 training providers including Maldives Polytechnic are conducting market relevant technical courses. A total of 799 students have successfully graduated and 517 students are currently studying under this program. Maldives Polytechnic has rolled out courses from the 12 ICT course package developed by the project. 15 students are completing Advance Certificate in Information Technology course. Comments: Additionally, a short course on Entrepreneurship and Personal Skills Development was conducted at 3 locations. 42 participants completed the program at R. Hulhudhuffaaru, 145 participants completed the program virtually as part of the BPC bootcamp training, and 35 students completed the program at Kulhudhuffushi City. A second webinar was held in August 2022 to mark the International Youth Day and to motivate and empower youth to achieve a better work-life integration. The purpose of this webinar was to amplify the message that action is needed from all generations to achieve the Agenda 2030 and its 17 SDGs, and leave no one behind. 19 participants (11 female, 8 male) from different atolls took part in this webinar. The third webinar series was conducted on 19th March 2023. This was on to mark the occasion of International Women’s Day. The topic was ‘Agriculture’ and it focused on creating awareness of the opportunities for youth and women in the agriculture sector. A total of 35 participant (25 female and 10 male) attended the webinar. MoHE held a nation-wide skills career expo in 2022. The expo was attended by 4137 participants (2292 male and 1845 female). The team shares messages from inspirational youth (women working in the entry level as well as senior management) in the tourism industry, quotes from young women continuing to break barriers that will encourage youth to pursue their dreams. As of now a total of seven videos of entrepreneurs related to the tourism sector are shared project’s social media platforms. Some of the main strategies of the plan includes launching social media campaigns, to inaugurates webinars series on the project priority sectors, conducting 21st century skills developmental workshops, developing target videos contents for youth and promoting skills related programs. Highlighted that while tourism is a spearheading sector in the Maldives, its benefits can only be exploited with equal participation of women. Additionally, a Gender Action Plan (GAP) has been developed to address the issues identified during Project implementation and through various surveys and studies undertaken by MEERY, including negative public perceptions of women in the tourism sector. Both communication strategy and GAP activities will be implemented together. As part of the communication and GAP strategy, Webinar series are being conducted by the project doing on project related sectors. In August 2022, a webinar session was conducted by Co-Founding Presidents of Enlighten a Mindful Community, on the topic of building a resilient community. In the year 2021, A four- part webinar series - Entrepreneurs’ Live, was conducted during the month of March and April. The objective of the webinar was to create a platform for peer-to-peer learning and experience sharing. The panelists of the webinar series consisted of women entrepreneurs from different fields including tourism sector. The panelists shared their insight and story to inspire youth who are interested to start their own business and are hesitant to enter certain fields of work. The webinar series was live on Facebook Live of MEERY page, which received more than a thousand viewers. With the introduction of new ICT courses in the Maldives Polytechnic, 15 students are already enrolled in the Advance Certificate in Information Technology course and the number will increase with the rolling out of more courses in the future.
