Implementation Status and Key Decisions
The current ISR sequence is based on the following project implementation support missions: Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) (April 3-7,
2023), DRC and Uganda in November 2022.
Uganda: The IDA credit closed on December 2022 with all activities completed and fully disbursed. All three major civil works were completed by
closing date, for a border post and market in Mpondwe and border posts at Bunagana. The traders occupied the new market at Mpondwe which

was allowed with the extended closing date to support the process of restoration of the traders and to mitigate potential risks to an important
category of the intended beneficiaries of the project.
DRC: Most of the activities were completed before the original deadline (June 30, 2022), with the exception of the construction of a one-stop border
post at Petite Barrière in Goma. This activity was delayed due to the slow development and implementation of the local resettlement action plan.
The Bank approved an additional financing of US$23 million and an extension of the project closing date in the DRC from June 30, 2022 to June 30,
2024 to allow time for the implementation of both the RAP and the construction of the joint border post. The additional financing became effective in
November 2022. The RAP was approved and published in October 2022 and is expected to be implemented by June 30, 2023. Recruitment of the
contractor has been completed, with work commencing by July 1, 2023. The contract for the construction of the border post has been approved by
the World Bank. Work is expected to start soon after the completion of the implementation RAP and is expected to be completed by the closing date
of the project.
Overall, the project continues to be on track to achieve PDO and implementation progress.
