KEY ISSUES & STATUS 4.1 Implementation Status and Key Decisions The project is making progress towards the achievement of the project development objective since last supervision mission. Although, the project is still lagging in meeting the indicator targets, some progress has been reported. To date, 450 jobs have been created in the value chains targeted by the project and 5,104 stakeholders benefited from commercial opportunities. Also, USD2.0 million has so far been mobilized from private entrepreneurs as a result of the project. With respect to the improvement of the enabling environment for commercial agriculture, the interprofession law was passed. As a result one reform out of the two reforms targeted was achieved. Similarly, one interprofession (poultry) out of two targeted has been established. In terms of rural road rehabilitation, technical studies and safeguards instruments havae been finalised for 106 km and rehabilitation works are ready to begin. The project awaits completion of the restructuring to finance payment of the affected population which is required for these works to begin. As part of the planned restructurig, the proposal is for the project to take over the rehabilitation of 153 kms of rural roads for which all technical and safeguards instruments have been completed from the Connectivity and Mobility Project (PMCR) and 322 km of on-going works from this project. Concerning commercial opportunities leveraged by the project, 6 medium to large enterprises and over 55 small businesses are benefiting from technical assistance to develop their businesses. A total of 238 sub-projects have been selected through the matching grant process and 211 are in the process to be selected to receive grants to support value chain activities on the targeted commodities under the project.
