The Solomon Islands Government signed an agreement with Solomon Power for the on-granting of proceeds and execution of Component 2c – Rural Electrification-- on April 25, 2024. The Ministry of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification (MMERE) and Solomon Power have made reasonable progress on key actions to initiate project implementation. Solomon Power is expected to start on-site activities in July 2024. Over the next six months, the Implementing Agency will focus on electing the permanent Community Benefit Sharing Fund Board members under Component 1, mobilizing work activities under Component 2 and training activities under Component 3, and initiating the development of the project Monitoring and Information System under Component 4. 5.
