It was approved by the World Bank Board on July 15, 2022 and the signing of the Financing Agreement took place on August 26, 2022. The project became effective on November 8, 2022 and it is now under implementation. An Implementation Support Mission (ISM) took place between April 24 and May 5, 2023 with the objective of considering what actions could be taken to accelerate implementation, including finalizing the Annual Work Plan and Budget for the project. During the ISM, the Government of Mozambique and the World Bank agreed to activate the Contingency and Emergency Response Component (CERC) to support quick response to cyclone Freddy and start rehabilitation activities. As a result, MDAP will need to be restructured to enable reallocating US$50 million to the CERC under this project, which requires reductions from other parts of the project. The proposed reallocation from other components is based on (i) the extent to which implementation of each subcomponent could be accelerated, and (ii) the objective of focusing 5/19/2023 Page 1 of 8 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Mozambique Digital Acceleration Project (P176459) activities to maximize impact as much as possible instead of wide-spread activities with limited impact. The restructuring is expected to be completed by the end of July 2023. In July-August 2022, GSMA released a major update of its dataset which significantly impacted this indicator: while unique subscribers were previously calculated at country level as a subset of the total Comments: population, the new method shifted to look at population growth separately across two age group subsets (5-17 and 18+). According to GSMA, the updated estimates allow to determine SIM ownership more accurately. On average at continental level, this means that the new estimates are lower than previously reported (33% vs 37% previously reported in 2021). At country level, Mozambique is one of the countries most affected by this update (-10%). 5/19/2023 Page 2 of 8 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Mozambique Digital Acceleration Project (P176459) IN01277717 Mobile broadband penetration rate for women (Percentage, Custom Breakdown) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 21.26 25.00 21.26 45.00 Date 01-Jun-2022 18-Oct-2022 05-May-2023 31-Jul-2028 IN01277718 ►Beneficiaries obtaining a certificate in digital literacy under the project (Number, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 0.00 0.00 20,000.00 Date 30-Jun-2022 18-Oct-2022 05-May-2023 31-Jul-2028 Number of beneficiaries obtaining a certificate in digital literacy after completing digital skills trainings Comments: under the project IN01277720 Of which female beneficiaries (Number, Custom Breakdown) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 0.00 0.00 12,000.00 Date 30-Jun-2022 18-Oct-2022 05-May-2023 31-Jul-2028 IN01277721 Of which under age 25 (Number, Custom Breakdown) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 0.00 0.00 12,000.00 Date 30-Jun-2022 18-Oct-2022 05-May-2023 31-Jul-2028 To support selected foundations for accelerated digital transformation IN01277585 ►Civil servants in MDAs/public institutions connected to broadband internet services (Percentage, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 20.00 20.00 20.00 60.00 Date 30-Jun-2022 18-Oct-2022 05-May-2023 31-Jul-2028 Comments: Percentage of civil servants in government offices, schools, hospitals, etc., connected to internet IN01277716 ►Students benefitting from new or improved access to learning thanks to digital technologies (Number, Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target 5/19/2023 Page 3 of 8 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Mozambique Digital Acceleration Project (P176459) Value 0.00 0.00 0.00 15,000.00 Date 30-Jun-2022 18-Oct-2022 05-May-2023 31-Jul-2028 Number of students in secondary schools, higher education institutions or TVETs benefitting from new or Comments: improved access to learning thanks to digital technologies IN01277719 Of which female students (Number, Custom Breakdown) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 0.00 0.00 0.00 7,000.00 Date 01-Jun-2022 18-Oct-2022 05-May-2023 30-Jun-2027 Intermediate Results Indicators by Components Component 1: Digital Access and Inclusion IN01277723 ►Retail price of 1 GB per month of pre-paid mobile data (Amount(USD), Custom) Baseline Actual (Previous) Actual (Current) End Target Value 1.33 3.33 1.33 0.77 Date 30-Jun-2022 18-Oct-2022 05-May-2023 31-Jul-2028 Retail price of mobile broadband sub-basket, prepaid handset-based, 1 GB (3G and above), in US$.
