This subcomponent provided productive safety net activity to 4.217 targeted poor families. The gender and social impacts have been high, with 59 percent of cash transfer direct recipients being women. Over 800,000 person days of employment were created. All rehabilitations and reconstruction of community based infrastructures supported by this sub-component have been completed, except the one with land administrative issue. 5/2/2023 Page 1 of 9 The World Bank Implementation Status & Results Report Comoros Social Safety Net Project (P150754) -Sub-component 1.2 : Ensuring an Early Recovery Response to Natural Disasters. The economic recovery grant program is completed : 10.290 households have been supported across the program of which over 70% are women recipient. Around 95% of the beneficiary households having received their first, second and third payments have launched their income generating activities and livelihood support and have been able to maintain and develop their activities. Less than 5% have encountered difficulties in implementing their recovery plan. This subcomponent also supports the cash for work activity: all activities have been completed. - Sub-Component 1.3 : COVID-19 response. 21556 households have benefited from the COVID-19 response. The final review of this operation of this activity was accomplished and has been shared through a workshop in January 2022. It has demonstrated encouraging results. Despite implementation constraints, the evaluation confirmed the expected results among households. The report is completed and the dissemination has been carried out in December 2022. - Component 2: Improving the Nutrition of Young Children and Mothers from poor Communities. This component has provided preventive nutrition services in the same 69 villages where the productive safety net activities under the sub-component 1.1 were implemented. It has focused on delivering a minimum package of nutrition-specific interventions for children under five years of age. This sub-component is completed and has exceeded the target PDO indicator of 9,600 beneficiaries with 2,571 pregnant women, 12,287 mothers, and 13,081 children under five years of age receiving basic nutrition services, or a total coverage of 27,885 beneficiaries. In addition, the nutrition program covered 6,254 children under the age of 24 months who benefited from improved infant and young child feeding practices, also exceeding the target indicators of 2,800 children. - Component 3: Strengthening Safety Net Management, Coordination, and Monitoring and Evaluation. In addition to the administration of the project, this component supports the evaluation of programs. The data collection of the Endline impact evaluation is ongoing. The elaboration of the collaboration protocol between the Commissariat and social protection actors is completed while the developing of the Ministerial Order is still underway. The integration of beneficiaries of the social safety net project into the Registry is finalized. Thus, the registry includes over 36,000 vulnerable households.
