Implementation Status and Key Decisions
Bangladesh Regional Waterway Transport Project was approved June 16, 2016, became effective March 20, 2017 and is expected to close
December 31, 2025. The overall project implementation urgently needs to be expedited so that all activities can be completed by the project closing
date of December 31, 2025.
Two Output Performance Based Contract ( OPBC) Works of Development Dredging with Maintenance and Aids to navigation along about 481 km
inland waterway routes are underway. Capital No1 Dredging for Lot3 will be completed early June 2024 while the completion of Capital No1
Dredging for Lot2 will be delayed by 2 months but will be completed.
Construction works of two cargo terminals ( Pangaon and Ashuganj) are underway.
Construction works of Three passengers' terminals ( Narayanganj, Chandpur and Barishal) are underway. The construction at Barishal is the most
advanced with 20% of billable works completed in march 2024.

The rehabilitation of the Deck and Personal Training Center is very advanced with 28% of billable works completed in march 2024.
