The Development Objective of the Series of Projects is to strengthen the shared management of selected Pacific Island oceanic and coastal
fisheries, and the critical habitats upon which they depend.
For the Republic of the Marshall Islands second phase’s project (“RMI PROPER”), the proposed Project Development Objective (PDO) is to
strengthen regional collaboration and national capacity for the management and the sustainable development of the oceanic and coastal fisheries
sector in Republic of the Marshall Islands.

Implementation Status and Key Decisions
There has been notable progress made with activity implementation commenced across components 1 and 2. However, progress has been slower
than projected post project effectiveness. The Coastal Fisheries Specialist position is currently under evaluation and the International Legal
Consultant position has been filled. Multiple Competent Authority activities are pending EU certification and are delayed until EU availability. TORs
for the Food Safety Training and Technical Support, Methodology and Standard Operating Procedures have been developed and activity

is awaiting the completion of the laboratory by other development partners before commencing. Laboratory construction is expected to be
