The procurement of the additional 6-kilometer km section has been completed and the contract was awarded in September 2023. The RAP implementation is expected to be fully completed by end of February 2024. During the field visit, the mission observed that the 6-km section is in a dense populated area further improvement of road safety measures to ensure a safe construction site for both contractors and public road users is urgently needed. Comments: The improved road conditions induce higher speed behaviors. The Project has put in place some physical speed control measures (i.e., humps and pedestrian operated signals (POS). The traffic police have been mobilized for speed and alcohol control, but the enforcement need to be further strengthened with more regular police control through the OPBRC contract period.
